NYFW Style Report: Ralph Lauren

I have come to the conclusion that Mr. Ralph Lauren is a genius. I didn't like each and every piece that went down the runway, but the effortless transition he accomplishes from the beggining of the collection all the way through the end leaves me in sheer amazement. This is what I gathered based only on my fashion knowledge and observation: the pieces at the beggining are very masculine and militar-inspired. Then they start to get more feminine, and color appears in rich velvet, still mantaining simple silhouettes. Further on the pieces become more form-fitting and leather appears making the outfits sexier, granting the woman power. And last but definitely not least, the final pieces of this brilliant collection show aristocrat-inspired pieces, adding draped bodices, beading, fur and even feathers making the overall look very rich and luxurious.
The key to understanding the collection is looking at the hats/berets that accesorize the looks, they reflect very clearly the status of the woman he's dressing.

NYFW Style Report: Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein's fall collection did not disappoint darlings, it was elegant and classic. He used heavy knits, very little fur and a lot of leather. Color palette? different shades of blue, grey, white, black and a lot of plaids. The silhouettes were mostly boxy with a few exceptions and the overall look was polished.

NYFW Style Report: Marc Jacobs

My favorite time of the year has arrived: fashion week. And for your delight I have put together my absolute favs from this stylish week in NYC. Enjoy and pay attention to the trends darlings, it would be très tragique to have an oh-so-2012 closet, n'est ce pas?
I'm going to divide the looks by designer and the first one is Marc Jacobs. His AW collection has a lot of fur (hopefully faux), sequins and bare legs and the colors he used varied from different shades of brown, to gold and even some navy. His inspiration, according my power of observation seems to be the 1920s, although he brought them to the runway with a modern twist.

Glamour at the Grammys

As everyone knows, the Grammys took place yesterday. I have to say I am obsessed with everything related to music and fashion, and the Grammys certainly had both! So here's VEUMDV's very own best and worst dressed list, enjoy!

Adele in Valentino is definitely a worst for my, she looks like a cupcake. Tell me loves, didn't it look MUCH better full-length?

J. Lo wearing Anthony Vaccarello is another fashion faux-pas in my opinion. We get it Jen, you have a rockin' body, but did you really have to pull an Angelina? And don't even get me started in that hair, très tragique.

Florence Welch in Givenchy. Oh, Florence my love, I know you're trying hard, and I have to admit -as hard as it is for me- you actually made a good decision altering the dress' neck line, sleeve length and color. But, it still doesn't do it for me, sorry doll!

Alexa Chung in Valentino. Alexa darling, j'adore you and you edgy sense of style, and as peasant-like this dress is, you've styled it correctly. That messy up do and natural make up look gorgeous on her, but don't you think some luxe nude Loubs would have done the whole look more justice? And maybe a statement necklace or a chunky bracelet would have sealed the deal, n'est ce pas?

Beyonce wearing Osman. Bravo darling, bravo. This is the way to wear jumpsuits, take note aspiring fashion icons, simple, well tailored and correctly accesorized. Congrats Queen B, you nailed it.

Katy Perry in Gucci. Three words Katy: Va Va Voom. I love that color on you, it somehow works with your skin tone and dark hair (thank God you're done experiencing with candy colors). But -there was obviously going to be a 'but'- that embellished clevage is a deal breaker for me. You are way too curvy to wear this kind of dresses K, leave those to starlets who need to draw attention up there, you definitely do not.

Taylor Swift in J Mendel. Allow me to say this darlings, Harry Styles is raging. I mean it, Tay Tay is lookin HOT, and after her performance last night I doubt there's a place for H. S. i her heart anymore. Ouch. I love this grecian inspired look, everything from the hair, to the make up, to the stunning dress complimented her beautifully. One of the best dressed hands down.

Rihanna in  Alaia. Simply breath-taking. Sexy, yet feminine, she looked absolutely amazing. The one thing I would've done differently is the hair, am I the only one who thinks she would look a whole lot better with bangs? Other than that, congrats RiRi.
